Responsible for the installation and repair of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration components and associated systems, food service equipment necessary to operate a major institution. Provides on‑job training to supervised inmates in HVAC and associated systems.
- Install and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems, and food service equipment; provide on‑job training to supervised inmates.
- Maintain records on refrigerant use and recovery in compliance with DEP regulations; perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems.
- Install electronic, pneumatic, and digital control systems; diagnose problems with HVAC and closed‑loop systems.
- Perform HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building preventive maintenance tasks; prepare reports as directed by the Maintenance Superintendent.
- Maintain custody and control of supervised inmates, prepare progress reports, and participate in required departmental training.

Background Screening RequirementThe Florida Department of Corrections requires all applicants to pass a Level‑2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. The check must be completed before starting work.
