Assist journeyman in the planning, lay-out, installation, testing and repair of wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, motors, equipment and control systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.

• Learn to use appropriate hand and power tools to properly assist electrician in performing duties, including measuring, cutting, and bending wire and conduit; drill holes for wiring; pull wiring through openings; assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects (wiring, conduit, motors).
• Perform minor repairs, such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.
• Maintain tools and equipment and keep supplies and parts in order; disassemble, repair and reassemble defective electrical equipment (e.g., motors).
• Load, transport, unload, and furnish electrician with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary; help install all related items in accordance with plans and specifications.
• Participate in safety processes and programs; engage with team to achieve zero injuries; report hazards to supervisor or safety professional; use stop-work authority if needed.
• Report all accidents and near misses; participate in investigation as needed.
• Participate in pre-job planning and safety discussions; identify safety hazards and take corrective action to mitigate hazards.
• Understand and respond to safety hazards and warning devices; follow lockout/tag out procedures where applicable.
• Attend site-specific training and follow all procedures as outlined in training.
• Follow established safety rules; maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication; perform basic arithmetic as needed; listen to co-workers and provide feedback.
• Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers; participate in on-the-job training and mentoring when provided.
• Produce quality work meeting plans, specifications, and industry standards; learn to read and understand plans and specifications (including one-line diagrams, cable and conduit schedules, ladder diagrams, P&IDs, and loop diagrams).
• Assist journeyman in planning, lay-out, diagram, install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment; learn to perform layout independently.
• Observe equipment operation to identify hazards and determine needs for adjustments or replacements; notify supervision of hazards and use safety stop-work authority as needed.
• Examine field conditions, identify problems and cost-saving measures; take corrective action and report issues to supervision.
• If certified to operate equipment, ensure construction equipment is operated and maintained properly; complete daily equipment inspections for equipment in use.
• Comply with Company Code of Conduct and jobsite policies.

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move in and around confined and cluttered places; see and hear with or without correction.
• Full range of motion and flexibility to meet job duties.
• Handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; repetitive movements.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
• Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.
• Work in cramped spaces and awkward positions; exposure to hot or cold temperatures and inclement weather.
• Work in bright or inadequate lighting; exposure to sounds and noise levels.
• Work around hazardous equipment; safety sensitive position.
