POSITION SUMMARY
Supervise a team of electricians ensuring all safety standards and compliance codes are upheld. Provide technical guidance regarding installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, and the essential duties and responsibilities may be different from those described.
- Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Comply with company, Federal, State, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regulations, and policies while performing duties.
- Assign work on multiple assignments during a workday and monitor progress onboard marine vessels.
- Monitor your work performance and productivity.
- Assist in meeting production goals.
- Perform additional assignments as directed by the foreman/superintendent.
- Manage employees and plan to have their crew work safely.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly and/ or indirectly supervise and/ or train subordinates assigned to their crew.
REQUIREMENTS
Education/
Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalence plus three to five years of marine/ industrial electrician experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must be able to manage a crew of individuals to get the job done efficiently, effectively, and safely. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Requires working knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, and alteration of marine electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
Requires knowledge of ship terminology, safety, OSHA, and ABS regulations.
Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Ability to read and comprehend written, oral, or diagram forms or plans. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Knowledge of the safe operation and use of hand and power tools. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors and employees.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
