Auto Body Technician – The Boyd Group

The Auto Body Technician is responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience by meticulously assessing, repairing, and restoring each vehicle to pre‑accident condition. The technician works collaboratively with the team to meet repair facility KPIs and serves as a dedicated brand ambassador of The Boyd Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan repair work, prepare cost estimates, and execute the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicles using tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers.
  • Correct dents, dimples, and minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins when other methods are not feasible.
  • Realign chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
  • Remove damaged sections and replace with new or aftermarket parts, including glass, windshields, and interior components.
  • Weld and attach parts, prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified paint or agreed‑upon equivalent.
  • Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines and inspect vehicles after repair.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a technical school program OR a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer required.

Skills and Abilities
  • Read job orders and work with very little supervision.
  • Collaborate with other repairers within an auto body shop.
  • Understand methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
  • Understand how to use tools required for the trade.
Physical Demands
  • Safe work in noisy area with many odors.
  • Lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions.
  • Bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
