Job Summary
The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems. This role involves troubleshooting, diagnosing system issues, performing regular maintenance (when needed), and ensuring HVAC systems are running efficiently. The Service Technician is expected to provide excellent customer service, follow safety protocols, and work independently or as part of a team.

- HVAC System Repairs & Maintenance
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, including issues with air conditioning units and heating systems.
- Repair or replace defective components such as motors, fans, compressors, and thermostats.
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems when help is needed, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and thermostats.
- Customer Service
- Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner, explaining HVAC issues and recommended solutions.
- Provide accurate estimates for repair or replacement services and obtain customer approval before proceeding.
- Educate customers on system operation, preventive maintenance, and energy‑saving tips.
- Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
- Use diagnostic tools and meters to identify electrical, mechanical, or refrigerant‑related issues.
- Identify root causes of system failures and recommend corrective actions, providing cost‑effective solutions to the customer.
- Maintain thorough documentation of the problem, the solution, and any parts replaced or repaired.
- Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of refrigerants and chemicals.
- Ensure compliance with local codes, environmental regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe to prevent accidents or hazards.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Accurately complete service records, including work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
- Provide written reports to customers and management, detailing completed tasks, system status, and any further recommendations.
- Maintain accurate inventory of parts used and report low stock levels to the supervisor.
- Continual Learning and Improvement
- Stay up‑to‑date with the latest HVAC technologies, products, and industry best practices.
- Participate in training programs, certification renewals, and safety meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Share insights and suggestions with the team to improve service quality and efficiency.
- Required Skills / Abilities
- Valid FL driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and background check.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in a related field.
- Experience repairing HVAC equipment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good coordination, be physically fit and have dexterity.
- Willingness to work overtime and on‑call hours.
- Ability to visually differentiate wires by color.
- Ability to explain technical information to non‑technical customers.
- Positive self‑starter who is coachable and willing to learn new things.
- Physical Requirements
- During a 10‑hour workday, must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
- Stand, kneel, bend, climb, squat, and reach above shoulder for extended periods.
- Use upper extremities for grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine hand manipulations.
- Perform continuous manual digging and trenching for extended periods during a 10‑hour workday.
- Safely climb ladders up to 12 feet and work at elevated heights when required.
- Work Environment
- Field‑based position with regular travel to customer locations.
- Safely navigate uneven surfaces.
- Occasional after‑hours or weekend work as needed for emergency services or testing schedules.
- Work in confined spaces and at varying heights as required by the job.
- Work outdoors in extreme conditions (heat, cold, etc.) and in tight or confined spaces when required.
