The Florida Department of Military Affairs is seeking a Locksmith II. This position is located in Starke, FL. The mission of the Florida Department of Military Affairs is to provide management oversight of the Florida National Guard and provide units and personnel ready to support national security objectives; to protect the public safety of citizens and to contribute to the national, state and community programs that add value to the United States of America and to the State of Florida.

Conditions of employment include passing a pre-employment drug screening and participating in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program. The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis. As a candidate, you may be required to provide documentation to verify meeting these minimum qualifications.
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of full-time-equivalent experience in maintenance and repair of locks and door hardware or related work. Physical requirements include climbing ladders, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs.
Duties and responsibilities include coordinating and participating in repairing locks using hand tools and other equipment, coordinating the ordering, purchasing and installation of locking mechanisms and door hardware, cutting duplicate keys, and maintaining a log of keys issued or returned.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of the procedures and methods for cutting keys, knowledge of the procedures and methods of installing, disassembling, and repairing locks, skills in installing, disassembling, and repairing locks, skills in operating a key-cutting machine, skills in using a lock pick to open locks, ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments, ability to communicate effectively, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, ability to follow instructions, and ability to re-key existing locks.
Special reminders include participation in the E-Verify program, requirement for male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, to be registered with the Selective Services System (SSS) before their 26th birthday, requirement for all members of the Florida Retirement System to contribute 3% of their salary on a pre-tax basis, and the State of Florida's support for a Drug-Free workplace.
