Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to prepare timber loads for transportation down roads and highways.
Must have good work ethics and willing to work with and assist co-workers.
Must be aware of SMZ (stream management zones) areas.
Must read and understand “Georgia’s Best Management Practices for Forestry” Manual.
Primary Duties:
Must be able to operate a pole saw.
Must ensure loads are trimmed properly so the loads meet legal requirements for transportation using state and federal roadways.
Must ensure loads are trimmed properly to meet mill specifications. (i.e., limbs are trimmed flush to each tree, and tree tops are cut to the proper size.)Secondary Duties:
Must wear appropriate PPE at all times.
Must complete all applicable maintenance videos.
Must complete all applicable safety videos.
Skills Needed to Perform Job:
Previous experience is preferred; however, on-the-job training from an experienced trimmer is an option.
Must be able to lift pole saw over-head.
Must be able to sharpen and maintain saw blades.
