Southland Construction, Inc is a general contractor providing vertical, heavy highway, and utility construction services in Florida since 1977. Southland has employed as many as 205 full time experienced people with a wide variety of talents second to none in the construction industry. We perform services for both public and private clients with jobs ranging from $200,000 to $100 million.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Building wood and metal forms
  • Erection and wrecking of all forms
  • Setting and tying steel
  • Pouring and finishing concrete
  • Knowledge of use of hand/power tools
  • Comply with Southland’s Safety Policies and Procedures
Required Experience
  • Prior experience in bridgework required
  • Comfortable working at heights and performing physical tasks (climbing, lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Able to work under physically demanding and variable conditions
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather, including extreme heat and cold
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work overtime as needed
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Perform repetitive physical tasks such as lifting, hammering, bending, sawing, and cutting.
  • Climb ladders, scaffolding, and formwork structures safely and frequently.
  • Stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, twist, and reach overhead for extended periods.
  • Maintain good balance, coordination, and manual dexterity.
  • Possess strong hand-eye coordination for operating tools and reading blueprints.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception.
  • Ability to hear and respond to verbal instructions, alarms, and warning signals on the job site.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
  • Work performed on elevated structures, over water, and in confined or restricted spaces.
  • Must tolerate noisy, dusty, dirty, and potentially hazardous environments.
  • Stand and walk on uneven terrain or surfaces for long durations (up to 10–12 hours per day).
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials such as concrete, adhesives, sealants, and fuels.
  • Work schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, or emergency callouts.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, harnesses, safety glasses, gloves, and high-visibility clothing is required.
