Job Summary
The Restaurant Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment and restaurant facilities. This position helps ensure safe, efficient operations by minimizing equipment downtime and maintaining the overall condition of the building.
Essential Duties- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial kitchen equipment, including fryers, grills, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, dishwashers, mixers, slicers, and ventilation systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, mechanical, and minor HVAC issues.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs to minimize operational disruptions.
- Install and assemble new equipment as needed.
- Perform general building maintenance, including lighting, painting, carpentry, flooring, doors, and minor plumbing repairs.
- Maintain maintenance logs, preventive maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
- Coordinate repairs with outside vendors when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, and food safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in restaurants, hospitality, or commercial facilities.
- Working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read technical manuals and diagrams.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- HVAC, electrical, or food service equipment repair certification.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Frequently stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in hot, cold, or confined spaces.
- Available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency maintenance calls as needed.
