Technician I
Trans Core (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Technician I to join our team in Bonifay, FL.
Summary:
Performs on-site or in-house servicing, repair, and/or installation of company products. This position may include various aspects of field support and installation, including but not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; and pole and foundation installation. Determines the most effective methods for installing equipment to maximize efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following:

- Installs equipment, including but not limited to cameras, detectors, and controller cabinets.
- Installs electrical conductors, data conductors, fiber optic cable, pull boxes, conduit, poles, and foundations.
- Connects electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment.
- Tests devices to ensure proper operation.
- Prepares and completes reports, logs, and shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and local practices.
- Responds to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within established time frames.
- Diagnoses and repairs hardware, software, and system issues.
- Reports the technical status of the system accurately and completely.
- Driving is an essential function of this position. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record throughout employment.
Required
Skills and Experience:
- Typically requires a minimum of 0 to 2 years of related experience.
- A Class B CDL is required.
- Basic knowledge of desktop technologies and communications software, including Windows operating systems, serial communications, and TCP/IP concepts.
- Working knowledge of utility locate procedures preferred.
- Technical training or experience with AC/DC electrical systems preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to recognize when deviations from established procedures may be necessary and exercise appropriate judgment.
Education:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Employment Requirements:
- Must successfully complete all required background and drug screenings initiated by Trans Core as part of the hiring process.
- When required by the project, must successfully complete FDLE and SLERS background screenings.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate effectively. The employee may occasionally be required to walk, climb, or balance.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work is frequently performed outdoors and in active roadway environments with exposure to moving traffic, moving mechanical parts, and varying weather conditions. Must be able to safely work in active roadway environments near moving traffic and comply with all applicable safety requirements and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.
