Position: F-16 Avionics Technician
Location: Eglin Air Force Base

Job Description

As a F-16 Avionics Technician, you will join the Operational Flight Program Combined Test Force (OFP CTF) Aircraft Modification Support Team. In this role, you will provide critical modification support to the OFP CTF and the 96th Test Wing for F-15 and F-16 aircraft. This includes executing component removals and installations, conducting operational checks, troubleshooting complex systems, and performing other essential aircraft maintenance functions.

You Will Do
  • Serve as the F-16 Avionics Subject Matter Expert (SME):
    Lead and execute all aspects of F-16 avionics maintenance with precision.
  • Expand Your Capabilities:
    Cross-train on F-15 avionics tasks to achieve full dual-platform qualification (if not already qualified).
  • Maintain Military Level Standards:
    Operate within a highly structured environment designed to mirror Air Force Maintenance Units, strictly adhering to Air Force Maintenance rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with Elite Talent:
    Work alongside a team of highly qualified technicians and mechanics, serving as a unique, premier asset capable of tackling any aircraft maintenance challenge for the OFP CTF and 96TW.
Requirements
  • 7 or more years’ experience repairing, replacing, troubleshooting, understanding, and inspecting all F-16 aircraft Avionics systems including but not limited to communications, navigation, flight control, instrumentation, counter-measures, and fire control
  • Thorough understanding of common maintenance practices and tool use/control
  • Ability to use test equipment to test or troubleshoot aircraft Avionics systems
  • Ability to functional test, troubleshoot, and/or repair Avionics systems
  • Diagnose problems and take appropriate corrective action
  • Ability to perform in-depth wire repairs on or off aircraft to include soldering, crimping, splicing, protecting, and assembling connectors and wire harnesses
  • Complete understanding and ability to interpret Air Force Technical Order system, Air Force Instructions, Time Compliance Technical Order, and schematic/wiring diagrams
  • In-depth knowledge of Air Force maintenance documentation procedures to include AFTO Form 781 series forms and Integrated Maintenance Data System
  • Thorough knowledge of safety and operating procedures for power-on aircraft.
  • Thorough knowledge of flight-line and in-shop ground safety, foreign object prevention, Personal Protective Equipment and HAZMAT processes/procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of ground support equipment and aircraft ground equipment use
  • Ability to clearly communicate status updates, task needs, and constraints to team leaders
  • Ability to implement and follow time management techniques to properly complete tasks
  • Ability to track and remain current on all training requirements
  • Must have and be able to maintain a Secret Security clearance
Other Responsibilities

Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job. Mission essential functions and other duties may be assigned as required. Employee must be able to travel on the rare occasion the need arises.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, twist, and work on or in the aircraft. Frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 50 pounds. Occasionally sit, climb, and balance. Constant use of sight abilities while reviewing technical data, drawings, and documents.

Constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness.

Pay: $38.45 - $40.87 per hour
