As a Senior Commercial & Industrial Door Service Specialist, you will install, repair, and maintain an array of door and dock systems while representing a safety-first, quality-driven culture. We are seeking professionals with 4+ years of industry experience who thrive on solving problems in the field.

A day in the field

Your day starts with a service plan and a stocked company vehicle. You will visit customer sites to diagnose issues, complete precision repairs, and install new equipment. You will calibrate hardware, verify code compliance, and communicate timelines and options so customers can make informed decisions. Every job ends with a quality check and documentation to our high standards.

What you will tackle

Install, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial doors, docks, and related hardware using the right tools and methods.

Diagnose issues involving springs, hinges, locks, operators, and electrical components; welding training available if you want to expand your skillset.

Set up and fine-tune hardware including locks, handles, closers, low-voltage operators, and access control components.

Verify installations meet safety requirements and applicable building codes.

Deliver clear, professional customer service—explain findings, outline options, and present cost-effective solutions.

Maintain thorough records of service calls, parts, and work performed; complete required reports.

Perform final quality checks to ensure work meets Vortex’s exacting standards.

What you bring4+ years of commercial door service experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Exceptional mechanical aptitude and confidence with hand and power tools.

Ability to read a tape measure accurately and perform fractional math for precise layout and installation.

Knowledge of door systems, brands, hardware, safety regulations, and adherence to safe work practices.

Clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills; persuasive and solutions-oriented when needed.

Problem solver who performs well in fast-paced, field-based environments.

Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication.

AAADM certification is a plus.

Physical and driving requirements

Lift and move 50+ lbs.

Climb ladders up to 20 feet; kneel for extended periods; operate power tools proficiently.

Valid driver license and ability to drive a company vehicle.

Schedule Full-time within business hours of 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Overtime and on-call work as needed to serve customers.

Compensation and benefits

Salary: $26.00/hr – $32.00/hr Comprehensive pay and health benefits, 401(k) match, 8 paid company holidays, and Vacation/Sick program.

Company-provided uniform and tools, plus an annual boot allowance.

Company vehicle for customer service visits.
