Victim Advocate

Position: VICTIM ADVOCATE
Location: Palm Beach

Provides crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and advocacy for victims of cases involving sexual assault, domestic violence, or other violent crimes. Provides support during court proceedings, acting as a liaison with the State Attorney's Office, law enforcement, and social service agencies. Coordinates public awareness initiatives and conducts training on victimization and related victims' rights matters. Work is performed under the general supervision of a team supervisor and is reviewed through regular meetings, reports, and effectiveness of work results obtained.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:

* A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or Public Service; minimum of one (1) year of experience assisting people from diverse ethnic/socioeconomic backgrounds in the areas of criminal victimization, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and case management, including coordinating services/training,

OR

* A Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or Public Service; minimum of six (6) months of experience assisting people from diverse ethnic/socioeconomic backgrounds in the areas of criminal victimization, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and case management, including coordinating services/training,

OR

* An unrelated Bachelor's Degree; minimum of two (2) years of experience assisting people from diverse ethnic/socioeconomic backgrounds in the areas of criminal victimization, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and case management, including coordinating services/training,

OR

* An Associate's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or Public Service; minimum of three (3) years of experience assisting people from diverse ethnic/socioeconomic backgrounds in the areas of criminal victimization, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and case management, including coordinating services/training,

OR

* An unrelated Associate's Degree; minimum of four (4) years of experience assisting people from diverse ethnic/socioeconomic backgrounds in the areas of criminal victimization, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and case management, including coordinating services/training,

OR

* Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of five (5) years of experience assisting people from diverse ethnic/socioeconomic backgrounds in the areas of criminal victimization, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and case management, including coordinating services/training.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

The selected candidate for this position MUST:

* Complete Office of Attorney General (OAG) Victim Practitioner Certification and Florida Council Against Sexual Violence (FCASV) Rape Crisis Certification within 11 months of hire and maintain Certifications as a condition of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include:

* Two (2) years of experience in advocacy work for sexual assault/domestic violence/homicide crime victims,

* Experience with 24-hour crisis response, and

* Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).

Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
