The Role

The Survivor Mentor provides essential direct services to individuals impacted by sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. In this role, you will act as a primary point of contact and a bridge to recovery, utilizing both professional training and lived-experience expertise to guide victims through the healing process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • When on call, participates in 24/7 availability for crisis intervention; (2.5%)
  • Uses lived experience to evaluate a victim’s situation, and provides and/or ensures support for immediate health and safety services such as crisis intervention; accompaniment to hospitals for medical examinations; the need for emergency clothing, housing, etc; (30%)
  • Uses established More Too Life guidelines to assess victim’s needs; (5%)
  • Develops in-depth knowledge of the services and benefits available to victims in the assigned region and how to verify victim’s eligibility for those services/benefits; (5%)
  • Uses the victim’s needs assessment, the victim’s eligibility for services/benefits, and other aspects of the individual’s situation to assist in the development of a wellness plan that ensures both short term and longer term needs of the victim are addressed effectively. (5%)
  • Solicits input from other members of the More Too Life Team to ensure services provided are consistent with the wellness plan; (2.5%)
  • Works with More Too Life Team to assist in the implementation of the wellness plan. (5%)
  • Provides day-to-day care management services and collaborates with the More Too Life Team to support ongoing needs of victims; (10%)
  • Assess victim progress and helps to implement the wellness plan revisions as victim’s needs change or issues surface; (2.5%)
  • Participates in team review of victims’ wellness plans, discusses changes with other members of the More Too Life Team to ensure that the needs of victims continue to be met; (2.5%)
  • Assists with referrals and accompanies victim to appointments as needed; (2.5%)
  • Provides ongoing mobile care management services to victims and their families (if appropriate) wherever the victim is housed; (10%)
  • Develops an understanding of legal protocols and accompanies victims to court hearings as needed; (2.5%)
  • Assists with special services to help victims manage practical problems created by their victimization such as acting on behalf of the victim with other service providers, creditors, or employers; assisting in filing for compensation benefits; and helping with applications for public assistance; (2.5%)
  • Understands and ensures compliance with reporting requirements and completes documentation as
Qualifications
  • Lived experience expert of complex trauma with 5+ years of recovery.
  • Detailed experienced-based understanding of the common impacts of commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking on children and young adults
  • Ability to identify and assess trauma and recovery and address the unique and individualized needs of a commercially exploited or sex trafficked victim
  • Ability to work with the More Too Life in a peer-to-peer environment while assisting in the development of a victim’s individualized wellness plan
  • Availability to work flexible hours and days and has ability to be on call 24/7 when requested
  • Team player, flexible and nonjudgmental
  • Committed to the experiences of vulnerable individuals and families

Salary Range: $52K – $55K per year
