Description

Provides individual, group, and family counseling for shelter residents per requirements of the contract provider. Conducts intakes, assessments, crisis intervention, and referral services. Monitors clinical progress of all youth in residential care.

PURPOSE:

Provides individual, group, and family counseling for shelter residents per requirements of the contract provider. Conducts intakes, assessments, crisis intervention, and referral services. Monitors clinical progress of all youth in residential care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides confidential services to clients, families, and visitors, including face-to-face individual, group, and family counseling sessions according to clinical standards and expectations established by the agency. Provides counseling services oriented toward positive family reunification.
  • Participates in or provides intake, screening, and referral services; conducts Nirvana assessment and related intake evaluations, assesses youths’ strengths and needs and develops Service Plans through the interdisciplinary team process, making referrals to internal and external services, as appropriate, to meet individual needs.
  • Provides documentation that assessments are comprehensive, timely, and complete in compliance with all contractual and funding source requirements.
  • Provides assessments, service planning, and individual, group, and family counseling.
  • Maintains comprehensive records of youths’ progress ensuring that documentation is in compliance with applicable laws, codes, rules, regulations, and standards for service provision.
  • Provides evidence that services are continuous and reviewed on a weekly basis.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings, as required.
  • Provides training to shelter staff and other Association personnel.
  • Assists clients and their families in the utilization of other services in the community, as an additional resource to the Youth and Family Advocate, as necessary.
  • Intervenes in crisis situations by providing counseling. Demonstrates the use of clinical judgment in the resolution of crises.
  • Coordinates nightly skilled group presentations, scheduling guest speakers and approving curriculum.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Possess a valid Florida Driver's License in good standing and be insurable by the agency's current insurance carrier. Must meet state criminal background check requirements. Ability to work a flexible schedule, mostly weekends. Knowledge of community resources.

Education / Experience

Must be a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and two years’ experience in the delivery of services to at risk youth.
