Position OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced Senior API Administrator and Developer to support enterprise application architecture and integration initiatives. The selected candidate will act as a technical expert responsible for API architecture, application integration, and enterprise system development to support critical business operations.
Education Requirements- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or
- Four (4) years of equivalent work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis when applicable.
- Minimum seven (7) years of IT experience across multiple technology areas.
- 2–3 years of architecture-level experience in enterprise applications and system integration.
- Advanced to expert knowledge of application architecture, system design, and enterprise integrations.
- Provide architecture and design recommendations aligned with long-term IT strategy.
- Develop enterprise-level applications and integration solutions, including enhancements, interfaces, and features.
- Design and build complex, business-critical software solutions using modern software engineering practices.
- Provide technical expertise in application integration across enterprise systems.
- Develop programming standards, reusable architectures, and development procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and support issues.
- Apply modern development methodologies and object-oriented programming approaches.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies for potential business use.
- Serve as a technical expert, mentor, and advisor across multiple development teams.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on API design and development experience.
- Strong experience with REST APIs, JSON, and HTTP protocols.
- Proficiency with Visual Studio, Azure API Management, Swagger, and Postman.
- Experience developing APIs using C#, .NET Core, and MVC architecture.
- Knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and enterprise integrations.
- Experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP, WebAPI).
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) and IBM DB2 (v12/13).
- Experience documenting APIs including URIs, HTTP methods, query parameters, and payload structures.
- Ability to build secure, scalable APIs and backend integrations.
- Strong collaboration skills with frontend developers, UI/UX designers, architects, and project managers.
- Experience working in state government or public sector environments.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and evaluating API SLAs and rate limits.
- Expertise in API orchestration and complex integration architectures.
- Experience building SDKs and optimizing APIs for frontend consumption.
- Ability to analyze, modify, and extend existing codebases to support evolving requirements.
- Strong knowledge of modern enterprise integration strategies.
