The work you will do:
Equipment operator - district seven/director of trans operations/district maintenance/ brooksville operations center
This position will be responsible for the oversight and management of our maintenance crews working on the roadways.

Your specific responsibilities:
Performs minor maintenance and servicing work in connection with any type of equipment operated and assists in the repairs of this equipment; checks and adds fluids, checks/adjusts brakes, maintains proper air pressure in all tires, etc. Cleans and washes equipment. After obtaining the required instructional cdl permit or license, operates vehicles and a variety of small and medium equipment that may include, but not limited to;
dump truck, front end loader, skid steer loader, grader, lift equipment, small bulldozer and asphalt repair truck while performing bridge and roadway maintenance.
Uses a variety of hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools to maintain bridges and roadways. Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments with minimal supervision.
Performs tree trimming, rough carpentry, masonry, painting and/or assists in the assembly and erection of highway signs.
Performs temporary traffic control (maintenance of traffic). Assists with crew activity reports as needed.
The successful candidate will have the following required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
* mathematical calculations.
* standard safety rules and procedures.
Skills in:
* operating a variety of hand and power tools.
* operating and performing minor maintenance on small/medium equipment and vehicles.
Ability to:
* operate a variety of heavy equipment.
* read and understand job-related materials and fill out reports and forms.
* maintain and repair highways, bridges and/or other highway structures.
* communicate both verbally and in writing, including following oral/written instructions.
* develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
* lift, carry, and handle up to 50 pounds.
* stoop, climb, squat, push, pull, crawl or bend on a frequent basis.
* work outdoors in various weather conditions on various terrains and at various heights or in high volume traffic.
* work independently.
* stand for an extended period of time.
Other job-related requirements:
* due to the nature of this position, the incumbent must respond to emergencies and be "on-call" (24-hour duty) when necessary.
