Bus Driver

Part Time

• Study and follow all laws and regulations of the State Board of Education and the District School Board relating to the transportation of learners.
• Pass an annual physical examination and meet other requirements as prescribed by law or regulation.
• Maintain a clean and neat appearance; refrain from the use of tobacco while operating the bus and avoid profane language in the presence of learners.
• Never use a cell phone while driving.
• Attend and participate in conferences and training classes for school bus drivers and pass examinations concerning traffic laws, state and local transportation regulations, and driving skills.
• Ensure transported learners observe all regulations prescribed by law, the state, and the school.
• Maintain order and discipline among passengers under the direction of the school principal.
• Permit a student to leave the bus only at a regular stop unless given written permission by parents and approval of the principal.
• Instruct learners on safe crossing practices at stops without traffic controls or with traffic control devices.
• Provide safe riding instructions to transported learners.
• Supervise emergency evacuation drills at least twice each school year as directed by the Supervisor of Operations.
• Use the bus only to transport learners to and from school unless directed otherwise by the Supervisor of Operations.
• Notify the Supervisor of Operations immediately about safety issues and concerns.

Transportation Coordinator and Campus Principal

• All employees must be fingerprinted and pass a background screening process by the Clearinghouse.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam.
• Ability to pass a dexterity test to assess coordination and safe movement while performing job tasks.
• High school diploma.
• Must be 21 years old.
• Have at least five years of licensed driving experience.
• Appropriate valid Florida driver's license for vehicle(s) driven.
• Must submit to and pass drug and alcohol screenings when requested.
• Demonstrated record of safe driving.
• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
