Duties
* Serves as a senior advisor/analyst performing liaison support assignments for Commander, Civil Air Patrol - United States Air Force (CAP-USAF) to the Commander, 1AF(AFNORTH) Commander.
* Senior representative of CAP-USAF LNO element in 1AF (AFNORTH) Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC), 1AF (AFNORTH) Contingency Action Team (CAT), Civil Air Patrol and 1AF (AFNORTH)/CONR Joint Personnel Recovery Center (JPRC).
* Senior advisor to Commander CAP-USAF on 1AF (AFNORTH)'s matters.
* Flight Operations. Operates small, single engine, fixed-wing aircraft in support of CAP-USAF duties. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

* A pre-employment physical examination will be required.
* The employee is required to meet and maintain CAP-USAF requirements to pilot general aviation aircraft on a recurring and regular basis, in support of the CAP-USAF mission. [Cont...]
* Must possess and maintain proper qualifications to exercise the privileges for at least a FAA Commercial Pilot certificate with airplane single engine land (ASEL), Instrument, and Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument Airplane ratings. [Cont...]
* Loss of flying status, if not correctable within one year, results in the employee no longer meeting the conditions for employment.
* May be required to work overtime.
* Short notice and frequent TDY may be required.
* Will be required to travel on military or commercial aircraft in performance of TDY.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
* This is a Key Position IAW DoD Directive 1200.7. The incumbent must be removed from military status.
* This is a Testing Designated Position. The employee is subject to random drug testing.
* Rated officer experience is critical to the success of the mission.
* Must possess and be able to maintain a FAA Medical Certificate Second Class or better. Qualifications Conditions of Employment Continued:
* The incumbent plans and carries out the work independently resolving most conflicts that arise, and coordinating the work with others as necessary, interpreting policy on own initiative in terms of established objectives. The employee keeps the supervisor informed of progress and potentially controversial matters. Completed work is evaluated for technical soundness, appropriateness and conformity to policy and requirements. The incumbent plans and carries out the work independently resolving most conflicts that arise, and coordinating the work with others as necessary, interpreting policy on own initiative in terms of established objectives.
The employee keeps the supervisor informed of progress and potentially controversial matters. Completed work is evaluated for technical soundness, appropriateness and conformity to policy and requirements.
* Maintains 24/7 on-call status to respond to homeland defense or DSCA crisis. Maintains a working knowledge of Joint Operations Planning and Execution System and all CAP-USAF and 1AF(AFNORTH) Common Operating Picture Information Systems for meeting key mission requirements during contingency/crisis operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, .
Note:
Candidates establishing eligibility based on military flight experience must provide official orders, forms, or logbooks showing their status as a rated military pilot, flight instructor, or flight examiner, as appropriate. Other certificates that meet or exceed the requirements of the Commercial Pilot Certificate are also acceptable, e.g., an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate. Minimum Eligibility Requirements Minimum eligibility requirements for positions in this occupation are based on possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates and/or appropriate military ratings, meeting the applicable flight hour requirements, and possession of the knowledge and skills required for the positions.
