• Wiz Kids Sports Camps are seasonal youth sports camps that offer athletic and academic enrichment to participants.

Modern Dance Instructor

• Prior Modern Dance related instruction experience at the elementary or high school level.
• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Performing or Fine Arts is highly preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with campers, staff, and leadership.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise groups of children in an active camp environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe, positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for all campers.
• Experience developing or facilitating age-appropriate drills, practices, games, or recreational activities.
• Previous summer camp, youth development, education, recreation, or childcare experience.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, or other applicable safety certification.
• Experience working with children of varying ages, abilities, and skill levels.

• The Modern Dance Instructor is responsible for teaching fundamental skills as well as more advanced strategy.
• Guides campers through the day ‑ to-day activities of the overall camp experience.
• Teaches sound technique classes based on current best practices for the physical and developmental health of the student.
• Develop critical artistic sensibilities.
• Instill skills and lessons that go beyond the studio.
• Choreographs the end of session camper showcase
• Teaches campers basic dance steps and more advanced steps where applicable.
• Instill an appreciation for dance.
• Gives or assigns individual help as needed, using dance junior associates working off to the side.
• Ensure the welfare of campers and positive resolution of camper related issues by communication clearly and consistently with camp leadership staff.
• Willingness to comply with Suspected Child Abuse Reporting (Subsection (a)(6) of 325 ILCS 5-4).
• Additional duties as contracted.

Monday to Thursday 10-4:30pm and Friday from 8:30-4:30pm - this is subject to change dependent on camper enrollment and grade class sizes.

Starting at $27.50/hr

As a Wiz Kids Coach, you'll have the opportunity to turn your passion for sports into meaningful leadership experience while helping campers develop confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and athletic skills . You'll strengthen your coaching, communication, group-management, and leadership abilities while taking ownership of your program. Coaches who successfully complete the season may also be eligible for recommendation letter support and future return opportunities , along with receiving Wiz Kids gear for the summer!
