Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales Support
- Maintains an enthusiastic atmosphere focused on fast and friendly customer service.
- Assists customers with product suggestions and provides helpful recommendations.
- Engages in suggestive selling through telephone, in‑store intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one interactions.
- Answers incoming calls promptly, resolves customer concerns, and escalates issues to the Store Director as needed.
- Assists with planning nightly operations and monitoring production processes according to company procedures and profitability goals.
- Builds, maintains, and refreshes grocery displays; rotates stock and discards outdated or spoiled products.
- Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays and assists in coordinating grocery sales promotions.
- Ensures merchandise is correctly priced, accurately displayed, and shelves remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation throughout the department.
- Ensures proper code‑dating practices are enforced across all products.
- Controls inventory levels to maintain adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness in alignment with division directives.
- Stocks and rotates product; maintains organized back room and department storage areas.
- Supervises all reclamation processing and ensures in‑stock conditions across the department.
- Controls shrink and operational costs through proper handling, stocking, and rotation practices.
- Assists with physical inventory conducted every six months.
- Supervises, trains, and assigns duties to department employees.
- Monitors employee productivity and evaluates performance regularly.
- Trains employees on store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping requirements.
- Possesses working knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including opening/closing, Dairy, and Frozen operations.
- Performs receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders against invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating merchandise.
- Adheres to temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines to ensure product integrity.
- Ensures compliance with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating requirements.
- Follows all workplace safety rules and regulations, maintaining a safe environment for associates and customers.
- Implements correct product preparation and department handling techniques.
- Safely uses and operates equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.
- Accurately completes, maintains, and monitors daily log sheets, sales and labor reports, and other required documentation.
- Processes administrative paperwork and maintains accurate department records.
- Ensures proper temperatures are maintained for all products in preparation, storage, and display areas.
