GDS Wealth Management is a rapidly growing wealth management firm headquartered in Flower Mound, Texas. We are passionate about guiding individuals and families toward their desired financial outcomes — delivering sophisticated planning solutions and an exceptional level of personal service.
Our team is led by Glen Smith, CEO and CIO, who has been consistently recognized as one of Forbes’ Best-in-State Wealth Advisors
* for eight consecutive years (2019–2026). That recognition reflects what we already know: we hold ourselves to a high standard, and we hire people who do the same.
Our mission: to give clients peace of mind by delivering sophisticated financial planning and an exceptional level of personal service.
THE OPPORTUNITYGDS is growing, and we need someone who knows how to start a conversation with a stranger and turn it into a client relationship. The Business Development Advisor is a hunter role — outbound-first, performance-driven, and focused entirely on new client acquisition. You won’t be managing an existing book. Your energy goes toward building one. In this role, you will:
- Own new client acquisition. Qualify and develop prospects through outbound calling, networking, and firm-generated lead follow-up.
- Run a disciplined outreach process. High daily call volume is the expectation - not a stretch goal. You will have targets, and you will hit them.
- Master the GDS story. Know our planning philosophy, our team, our differentiators, and our client experience well enough to handle any objection credibly.
- Move qualified prospects through to close. Discovery, follow-up, and handoff to the advisory team are yours to own from first contact through onboarding.
- Collaborate with the advisory team to ensure a seamless client transition. Your close is their starting point so it’s crucial you make it a strong one.
- Track your activity and results. CRM discipline is part of the job.
- Stay current. Required training, licensing obligations, and continuing education are expected and supported.
- Represent GDS with professionalism in every interaction. You are the first impression a prospect gets of this firm.
- 1–5 years of experience in a sales, business development, or outbound prospecting role - financial services experience strongly preferred
- Series 65 or 66 license preferred (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Clean U-4 and U-5 history required for any licensed candidates
- Demonstrated track record of hitting or exceeding outbound activity and conversion targets
Relentless but professional - you make the calls, do the follow-up, and don’t take a no as permanent
A fast learner who can absorb a complex value proposition and communicate it simply
Organized and self-managed - you track your own pipeline without being asked
Competitive by nature and motivated by measurable outcomes
Credible in the wealth management space - you understand what a client is trusting us with
OUR CULTUREWe operate by five guiding behaviors that define how we work — with our clients, with each other, and with ourselves.
DevelopGrow professionally and inspire others to do the same.
Work with and through others to achieve outcomes that matter.
DecideMake prompt, pragmatic choices with the client at the center.
DeliverTake ownership and hold yourself accountable for results.
ImproveContribute to the continuous evolution of the firm. Kaizen is not a buzzword here — it’s how we operate.
WHAT WE OFFER CompensationCompetitive base salary plus performance incentives tied directly to new client acquisition. Your output drives your income.
Health insurance and 401(k) with matching contributions
Work CultureA high-performance environment where business development is treated as a first-class function, not an afterthought
GrowthA clear path into broader advisory responsibilities for those who demonstrate the capability and ambition to grow
WHO THRIVES HEREThe people who succeed in this role don’t need to be managed into picking up the phone. They keep score on themselves, bounce back from a bad week without drama, and know how to make a cold prospect feel like the conversation was worth their time. If that sounds like how you already operate, we’d like to talk.
If you want to be the reason the firm grows, and be recognized for it, this is the role for you.
READY TO BUILD SOMETHING GREAT?Fill out the application below and a member of our team will be in touch.
