Technicians operate in the field, serving customer premises and working along fiber routes

Installation & TestingAs an FTTH technician, your responsibilities include:
- Installing Fiber-Optic Infrastructure:
You’ll expertly install fiber-optic cables, connectors, and related equipment at customer sites or network nodes - System Testing:
Use specialized equipment to rigorously test installed systems, ensuring proper functionality and compliance with industry standards
- Diagnosing and Repairing Faults:
Identify signal degradation, cable cuts, or equipment failures in existing fiber networks. Swiftly address issues to maintain network reliability. - Routine Maintenance:
Perform scheduled maintenance tasks to ensure the continued optimal performance of the network.
- Accurate Records:
Document installations, repairs, and maintenance activities thoroughly. - Network Updates:
Keep network documentation and customer databases up to date.
- Customer Interaction:
Interface with customers, explaining network issues and providing estimated repair or installation timelines. - End-User Training:
Train end-users on the basic use and maintenance of installed equipment.
- Adherence to Regulations:
Follow safety regulations and industry standards meticulously to handle cables and network equipment safely. - Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
Always use appropriate PPE and follow procedures for working at heights or in confined spaces.
- Demonstrated Expertise:
Proven experience in installing and repairing fiber-optic networks. - Network Proficiency: A strong understanding of network protocols, tools, and standards.
- Problem-Solving
Skills:
Excellent capacity for independent work and effective problem-solving. - Clear Communication:
Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and end-users. - On-Call Availability:
Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent:
Required. - Associate’s degree:
Preferred, especially in telecommunications, information technology, or a related field. - Certifications:
Consider certifications like the Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or others from the Fiber Optic Association (FOA).
- Outdoor and Technical Facilities:
Primarily working outdoors or in customers’ homes. - Physical Requirements:
Climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and adapting to varying weather conditions. - Local Travel:
Frequent travel to local customer sites.
