Shipping Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY

Leads day-to-day outbound distribution operations (replenishment, waiving, slotting, order management, pick, pack, and ship) to ensure accurate, on-time, and cost-effective order fulfillment. This role is accountable for workforce supervision, productivity, quality, safety, and service levels while continuously optimizing processes, flow, and system utilization to meet customer and business expectations.

• Executes all outbound activities including picking, packing, staging, and shipping.
• Executes daily shipping plans/waives aligned to order priorities, carrier cutoffs, and service commitments.
• Ensures shipment accuracy and compliance with customer and carrier requirements.
• Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) such as:
  Order fulfillment cycle time, On‑time shipment, Order accuracy, Units per labor hour (UPH).
• Drives timely resolution of shipping issues, exceptions, and customer escalations.

• Plans, assigns, and optimizes labor to meet daily volume and productivity goals.
• Creates and manages staffing schedules to align with demand fluctuations.
• Provides hands‑on leadership, coaching, and performance management for associates.
• Maintains a positive work environment and addresses employee concerns or grievances proactively.
• Conducts performance reviews and tracks employee development plans.

• Identifies inefficiencies, makes suggestions and implements process improvements in waiving, replenishment, order management and pick/pack/ship workflows.
• Optimizes slotting strategies and product flow to improve picking efficiency.
• Balances zones and workload distribution to reduce bottlenecks.
• Standardizes work procedures and ensures adherence to best practices.
• Partners with leadership on continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).

• Supports inventory accuracy through monitoring, inventory movement, and transaction discipline.
• Utilizes Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), shipping systems, and reporting tools effectively.
• Ensures accurate manifesting, trailer closing, and shipment tracking.
• Coordinates with inventory control teams to resolve discrepancies.

• Schedules and manages outbound loads across parcel (UPS, Fed Ex, USPS, couriers) and LTL/FTL carriers.
• Ensures trailers are loaded safely, sealed, and dispatched on schedule.
• Maintains compliance with transportation regulations and shipping specifications.

• Enforces all safety policies and ensures safe use of material handling equipment.
• Conducts equipment inspections and coordinates maintenance as needed.
• Maintains compliance with company standards, OSHA regulations, and operational procedures.
• Drives a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Develops and executes structured onboarding and training programs for new employees.
• Cross‑trains employees across outbound functions to improve flexibility.
• Tracks and documents training progress and certification status. Partners with HR for record keeping.
• Upholds operational standards through consistent coaching and reinforcement.

• Maintains accurate timekeeping and payroll records (e.g., Ulti Pro (UKG) or similar system).
• Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.
• Analyzes data trends to improve productivity and service levels.
• Communicates operational updates and performance results to management.
