Responsibilities- Design and develop new products; lead and execute existing product enhancements.
- Interface with marketing on generating feasibility of product ideas and concepts.
- Ensure customer requirements and design input are proactively defined to guide the Product Development team.
- Bring product ideas and concepts into iterations of prototyping, testing, and validation.
- Apply both new and existing technologies, materials, and processes to deliver the optimum product design and establish excellent performance standards.
- Conduct cost analysis of products and perform process optimization studies.
- Work with international manufacturing sites on implementing approved products into manufacturing processes, devising and leading both lab scale and mass production experiments to validate critical design and processing methods.
- Develop strategies to overcome technical challenges.
- Provide continuous support for product launch in early marketing stages and seek steady improvements in design, quality, and financials.
- Analyze technical data and prepare standard and customized reports and documentation for internal and external sponsors.
- Participate in planning and scheduling activities necessary to meet project deadlines.
- Develop products and processes through the entire life cycle to ensure long‑term success.
- Knowledge of polymer science and composite materials.
- Knowledge of plastic-related processes (injection molding, thermoforming, blow molding, etc.).
- Hands‑on experience with mechanical design, GD&T, and major 3D CAD software (Solid Works preferred).
- Knowledge of DOE (design of experiments) and process validation.
- Experience in the medical device industry is a plus.
- Experience with design control is a plus.
- Experience with ISO-related audits is a plus.
- Project management experience, strong problem‑solving skills, excellent communication, and leadership abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is required; mechanical or materials engineering preferred.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- PMP certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of electrical system design is a plus.
- Strong sense of urgency.
- International working experience is a plus.
- Fluent in Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
- Approximately 15% international travel is requested.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
- Long periods of standing required.
- Minimal lifting required.
- Use of fingers, hands, or other senses to feel objects.
- Reaching with hands and arms.
- Standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Close vision and depth perception required.
