Transportation Engineer

Our Mississippi operation is currently experiencing tremendous growth and has a career opportunity in Flowood for an experienced Transportation Engineer. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, flexible, organized, and attentive to detail, with strong time management, writing and people skills.

Perform engineering calculations and create estimates

Develop drawings by modifying or replicating a prior project, applying changes and corrections from redlined drawings, and/or creating drawings from sketches of others or from own design

Interpret and understand drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects and respond to requests for information regarding same

Conduct field inspections and surveys, investigate variables, obtain measurements, photographs, videos, and take notes; write reports documenting same

Will provide management for design and plan production for transportation projects

Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using own judgement to make adaptations and modifications to existing designs

Submit concept designs and work through approval processes such as permits from municipalities

Independently coordinates the work of other engineers and designers during project development

Coordinate with in-house and external consultants and/or subcontractors

Coordinate information flow to and from clients

Ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards

Complies with federal, state, and local code and regulatory requirements by researching existing and new policies; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

Assist in preparation of materials for proposals such as expectations for deliverables and/or budget analysis and billing of projects

BS or MS in Civil Engineering from an accredited university

Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Required

Professional Engineer (PE) certification Preferred

4 - 6 years of experience in the roadway design/construction projects required

A working knowledge of State Department of Transportation Standards

Experience in Micro Station and Open Roads Designer software desired
