DEPARTMENT:
Metering Services SALARY: $26,449.39 - $39,080.57

The Utility Service Worker changes all water meters, resets meters, reads meters, records consumption, turns on and shuts off water services for customers, investigates service complaints, discontinuing service on delinquent accounts or in special emergencies, and any other duties assigned by the City Manager or Supervisor.

• Read water meters on an assigned route, record readings, and compute amount used
• Make special readings as required
• Operate Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system
• Review AMR report for High Leaks, No Usage, Tampers, Did Not Scan, and other problems
• Report leaks and other safety concerns
• Locate new meters for assignment of proper account numbers
• Make minor repairs to various meters in the field

• Good knowledge of water service rules and regulations of the City area and vicinity
• Good knowledge of the repair and operations of water meters
• Ability to make simple arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately
• Ability to maintain cordial relations with the public and to explain rules of water service
• Must be in good physical condition; ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
• Some meter reading or mechanical experience
• Completion of high school or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Must have a valid drivers' license issued by the State of Mississippi
