Durable Medical Equipment Repair Technician
General DescriptionThe Durable Medical Equipment Repair Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing durable medical equipment.
ScheduleMonday–Friday, 8 hour shifts. Evening or weekends may be required for emergency repairs.

Duties / Responsibilities- Inspects and repairs company's medical and related technical equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.
- Inspects and repairs patient/customer's medical equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.
- Repairs, calibrates, and maintains equipment.
- Safety tests medical equipment and the company's physical environment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards.
- Consults with staff to ascertain that equipment functions properly and safely.
- Assembles medical equipment per manufacturer's specifications.
- Maintains adequate supply of repair parts.
- Can demonstrate and explain correct operation of equipment, including identifying hazmat symbols, wearing protective safety gear, and safe handling of contaminated equipment.
- Documents functional checks and repairs for company and patient/customer equipment.
- May assist Delivery Drivers in preparing, loading, and unloading trucks/vans.
- Maintains work area and tools in a clean and orderly manner.
- Follows the safety program and adheres to OSHA guidelines to reduce work-related injuries.
- Strong mechanical skills and the ability to remain patient-focused when repairing, maintaining, or setting up DME equipment.
- Ability to operate smart devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets), computers, and hand-held scanning devices.
- Ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions to ensure accurate completion of repairs, maintenance, and setup.
- Ability to protect and maintain the confidentiality of patient information and follow procedures to ensure CHAP and HIPAA compliance.
- Good organization and prioritization skills to plan and stage equipment.
- Safety orientation is required to perform work and follow safety operating procedures.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Current state-issued driver’s license
- Clean driving record for the past 3 years
- Pass a background check
- Ability to use basic tools (e.g., wrench, screwdrivers) to set up or repair DME
- Experience in healthcare or medical fields with DME is preferred but not required
- One year of repair or warehouse experience preferred
- Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds at times
- Ability to lift, maneuver, and assemble/disassemble large and awkward DME
- Approximately 50%–75% of the day standing, walking, bending, twisting, grasping, squeezing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching, and transporting equipment
- Occasionally climbing stairs to transport equipment
