Back Faxedge Support (Asterisk)

We’re seeking an experienced Asterisk Engineer to join our Level 3 technical support team. You’ll be the expert for complex Asterisk core system troubleshooting and custom telephony solutions, working directly with customers and resellers while supporting our internal development teams. This role focuses on Asterisk’s underlying engine, custom dialplan development, and advanced VoIP implementations.

• Diagnose and resolve complex Asterisk configuration file and dialplan issues
• Troubleshoot core Asterisk functionality, channel drivers, and application problems
• Provide advanced technical guidance on custom Asterisk implementations
• Create detailed documentation for Asterisk configuration patterns and troubleshooting
• Escalate and coordinate with Digium/Sangoma engineering when needed

• Support development team with Asterisk AGI, AMI, and ARI integrations
• Assist with custom Asterisk builds, patches, and telephony application development
• Collaborate on high-performance telephony system architecture
• Configure and optimize Asterisk instances for specific use cases
• Participate in on‑call rotation for critical Asterisk core system issues

• Debug complex dialplan logic and custom Asterisk applications
• Analyze Asterisk full logs, channel traces, and real‑time debugging
• Optimize Asterisk performance, memory usage, and concurrent call handling
• Mentor junior team members on Asterisk internals and VoIP protocol implementation

• 3+ years hands‑on experience with Asterisk configuration file management and dialplan development
• Deep Asterisk expertise: dialplan programming, channel configuration, application development
• Advanced VoIP knowledge: SIP protocol internals, RTP, codec negotiation, NAT handling
• Asterisk debugging proficiency using CLI commands, logging levels, and protocol analysis
• Strong Linux system administration and command‑line expertise
• Customer communication skills – ability to explain complex telephony concepts clearly
• Experience with custom Asterisk development (AGI scripts, custom applications, API integration)

• Asterisk module development in C or experience with Asterisk source code
• Advanced SIP debugging with packet capture analysis and protocol troubleshooting
• Scripting expertise (Python, Perl, PHP for AGI and AMI applications)
• Database integration with Asterisk (realtime, CDR, custom schemas)
• Carrier‑grade experience with high‑volume Asterisk deployments
• Previous telecommunications or VoIP platform development experience

You’ll be working with Asterisk core alongside our broader infrastructure including Linux systems, AWS cloud services, and advanced networking technologies.
