** PRIMARY FUNCTION:
** The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for managing a team of employees to ensure product quality and food safety while maintaining compliance in Company and regulatory guidelines and all federal, state and local legal requirements. This role analyzes & communicates financial indicators, champions continuous improvement programs, develops capital spending programs and fosters a safe and positive work environment enabling the achievement of production requirement to meet or exceed customer expectations and shareholder returns.
**** RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
***** Manage plant teams to meet volume requirements and ensuring product availability to meet customer demand
* Develop short & long-term strategies to improve plant performance as measured by the plant performance indicators
* Partner with functional leaders to meet quality and food safety requirements
* Understand financial objectives and assists with the development of long & short-term plant financial strategies aimed to achieve objectives
* Analyze processes or roadblock/ issues, determines improvement or cause, communicating recommendations to senior management, including operations manager
* Partner with functional leaders to comply with regulatory guidelines while increasing throughput increasing customer satisfaction
* Assist with succession planning and employee development, providing input on possible candidates for promotion and developing programs to assist with employee development
* Identify opportunities for improvement, develop and implement continuous improvement solutions and lead or participate in process improvements
* Assist Compex leadership with the development of short & long term for plant capital spending strategies evaluating cost savings vs. stated commitments to ensure timely implementation and completion of capital projects
* Develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
* Maintain safety and health programs for the location(s) under his/her management. Promotes and supports a participative program which encourages a high level of employee involvement.
* Reviews production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
**** SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
***** This role is a Leader of People role with required competencies: Sizing up People, Delegation, Planning, Customer Focus and Conflict Management
**** EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
***** Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Food Science, Microbiology or closely related area.
** EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
*** Min eight (8) years relevant experience in Operations Management in a food processing industry.
* Minimum five (5) years' demonstrated leadership experience managing a team
* Strong business acumen including knowledge of finance, financial indicators, cost modeling and the like.
* Demonstrated success in overall management of safety and compliance within a food-manufacturing environment.
* Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)
* Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner; multi-lingual strongly preferred
* Ability to handle and resolve most issues in an efficient and effective manner while ensuring confidential information is relayed only on a need-to-know basis
* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, planning skills, and a high attention to detail
* Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
** SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
*** Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
* Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory

* PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
*** Ability to work extended shifts (holiday, weekend and/or extended) as business need requires
