Job Summary

The Float Nurse Practitioner at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care in various clinic settings, examining and treating a range of illnesses and injuries, performing diagnostic tests, and offering patient education. This position requires adaptability to different clinic environments and schedules as directed by the Float Pool Manager. The Float Nurse Practitioner must possess strong clinical skills, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to collaborate with physicians across diverse clinical scenarios.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in the clinic setting according to the scope of practice outlined by the Board of Nursing, approved protocols, national standards of practice and as directed by the physician preceptor.
  • Provides patients/families with education related to the disease process, health, and wellness. Serves as a resource for community agencies as appropriate.
  • Ensures timely and accurate documentation of patient status and patient care activities including treatments, procedures and medications prescribed.
  • Ensures clinical competence and stays abreast of changes in medical management by participating in a variety of health care education activities.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Master’s Degree in nursing with appropriate licensure as an Advanced Practice Clinician (required).
  • Licenses and

    Certifications:

    Licensed in State as a Nurse Practitioner (required).
  • Work Experience:

    1-3 years (preferred).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Maintains and enhances knowledge and skills in current technology and practice to provide care to pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Demonstrates skills in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating work. Comfortable working with interdisciplinary teams and patients across age groups.
