Be the Power Behind Heavy Equipment.

Are you hands-on, mechanically inclined, and ready to jumpstart a career that keeps the world moving? Join our team as a Service Technician I and work on powerful Caterpillar heavy equipment, making sure it's running strong when it matters most.

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for mechanically minded individuals looking to grow in a skilled trade. You'll work independently and alongside experienced technicians in a professional service shop environment. From preventive maintenance to diagnostics and major repairs, you'll be at the heart of what keeps construction, agriculture, and industry rolling.

What You'll Do:

  • Tear down, reassemble and install diesel-powered equipment—engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and powertrain components—with precision and pride.
  • Troubleshoot like a detective:
Identify issues, determine root causes, and perform efficient repairs.
  • Maintain and repair equipment and components, following safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Test and adjust machine systems using cutting-edge diagnostic tools.
  • Evaluate parts for reusability based on OEM guidelines, and coordinate replacement parts orders with your supervisor.
  • Complete clear, detailed service reports and keep your supervisor in the loop throughout your repairs.
  • Ensure every machine is tested, inspected, and ready to perform before delivery.
  • Keep your workspace clean, tools maintained, and yourself looking sharp - professionalism matters here.
  • Stay current with new tools, technologies, and industry innovations.
  • Be flexible: perform related duties as assigned to support our customers and team.
Qualifications

What You Bring to the Role:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Technical training in diesel engines, heavy equipment, or military mechanical experience preferred.
  • Must have one year of hands-on work experience or be currently enrolled in or completed a diesel training program.
  • Previous experience in diesel, automotive, or truck engine repair environments a plus.
  • Basic understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, and mechanical diagnostics.
  • Proficient with mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a drive for accuracy.
  • Comfortable reading schematics, manuals, and technical documents.
  • Physically capable of lifting, standing, and working in a demanding shop environment for 8–10 hour shifts.
  • Competent with computer systems – you will learn to use our systems like SIS and DBS.
  • Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends when needed.
  • A set of basic mechanic hand tools – wrenches, sockets, and drives are a must.

Safety & Work Environment

  • Safety is a core part of everything we do. You are expected to follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory, including but not limited to safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, hearing protection, and any job-specific gear.
  • Work safely and remain aware of your surroundings in a high-energy shop environment with heavy equipment in motion.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or injuries, and take an active role in maintaining a safe workplace for yourself and your team.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement efforts to strengthen our safety culture.
  • Failure to follow safety requirements may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
