MTSS Lead Teacher - Secondary (7-12)

Job Goal:
* To support the district in implementing a comprehensive multi-tiered system of support that addresses the academic and behavioral needs of all students by providing guidance and training in Response to Instruction (RtI), Problem-Solving Teams (PST), and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), summer school planning/implementation, as well as other district initiatives as assigned. The MTSS Lead Teacher will collaborate with school and district leadership to promote data-driven decision-making, effective intervention planning, and ongoing progress monitoring to ensure improved student outcomes.
The MTSS Lead Teacher will assist schools with requirements for documentation of intervention/instructional efforts including those required for compliance monitoring.
Qualifications:
* Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university preferred.
* Valid Alabama teaching certificate in an appropriate area as identified by the Alabama State Department of Education.
* Successful experience in instructional planning, teamwork, leadership or other suitable specialized training.
* Minimum three (3) years successful teaching experience.
* Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. .
* Knowledge of and ability to implement effective instruction, effective instructional planning, and the use of formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction.
* Knowledge of and ability to plan and implement effective teacher supervision, teacher coaching, and professional development practices.
* Knowledge of the school system's program of studies related to mission, goals and organization.
* Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
* Ability to plan and implement lessons and professional development based on system and state courses of study and the needs and abilities of students.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
* Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member.
* Ability to use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
* Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
* Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.

Performance Responsibilities and
Essential Functions:
* Lead district-wide implementation of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), including developing timelines, communication plans, and training for stakeholders.
* Coordinate MTSS efforts with other departments, such as Special Education, Section 504, English Learner, and Counseling, to ensure comprehensive and aligned student support.
* Contribute to school improvement by integrating MTSS goals and monitoring routines into school plans.
* Ensure the timely and accurate submission of all required reports, records, and correspondence.
* Provide professional learning and coaching for leaders and teachers, including workshops, job-embedded cycles, and facilitating Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
* Conduct fidelity checks and walkthroughs, providing actionable feedback to schools and leaders.
* Coach and support teachers individually and in groups, using a variety of coaching strategies.
* Analyze and present student data (screening, growth, behavior, and attendance) to inform decisions at the student, school, and district levels.
* Support schools in the effective use of assessment and data platforms, troubleshooting data issues in collaboration with the Education Technology and Assessment teams.
* Develop and disseminate MTSS tools, such as intervention menus, rubrics, and data-meeting protocols.
* Facilitate or coach school Problem-Solving Team (PST) meetings and support case management for students needing intensive interventions, including those requirements outlined by state law.
* Support schools to ensure timely communication with parents and effective documentation efforts of progress for students receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
* Actively collaborate with school and district staff on curriculum development, instructional planning, and resource alignment.
* Serve on committees and task forces to improve student achievement and support district initiatives.
* Prepare summaries and presentations for district leadership, recommending policy and practice revisions based on evidence.
* Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
