Collins Aerospace is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to support repair operations in a facility that is transitioning to state-of-the-art equipment and advanced manufacturing processes. You will be working cross-functionally with other engineering disciplines, optimizing the performance of a wide range of tasks to facilitate repair operations, production, and business unit objectives for the Alabama Service Center Foley MRO
. You will also be designing and arranging machines, tooling, and the sequence of operations, and making sure that mandatory modifications are incorporated to ensure configuration compliance and to improve efficiency. In addition, you will have an opportunity to support advanced manufacturing automation projects and engage with other facilities for Continuous Improvement initiatives.

- Work 1st shift hours (6:30 am – 3 pm) Monday – Friday
- Manufacturing Process Design and Improvement:
Design, control, and optimize manufacturing processes by collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and translating engineering design requirements into formal manufacturing documentation. - Advanced Equipment Integration:
Develop and deploy advanced manufacturing equipment, including robotics, CNC systems, sensors, and process monitoring tools, while integrating automated solutions for improved efficiency and acting as the Cap Ex Project Manager. - Process Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
Implement manufacturing process controls, troubleshoot process and equipment issues, and drive data-driven improvements to enhance capability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. - Continuous Improvement and Problem Solving:
Lead continuous improvement initiatives, corrective action investigations, and problem-solving efforts to reduce cycle time, lead time, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). Oversee a portfolio of complex projects, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives. - Tooling and Fixture Development:
Own the design, arrangement, and optimization of tooling, fixtures, and gages, ensuring availability and alignment with manufacturing processes. - Defect Analysis and Quality Improvement:
Perform defect analysis and identify opportunities to influence engineering designs for improved producibility and reduced costs. - Digital Manufacturing and Innovation:
Drive digital manufacturing initiatives, apply 3D modeling and CAD for workspace optimization, and leverage emerging technologies to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency. - New Product Introduction and R&D:
Perform process development for new product introductions, conduct ROI analyses to pursue funding, and research new technologies for accelerated time-to-market strategies. - Data Analysis and Lean Principles:
Apply statistical methods, Lean manufacturing principles, and ergonomic analysis to improve safety, quality, and operational efficiency across processes. - Compliance and Safety:
Work safely always by following company policies and procedures and ensure compliance with safety protocols and manufacturing standards. - Work in a team environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Experience reading and interpreting specifications, engineering drawings, blueprints and models.
- Experience adapting equipment or tooling design to factory and production conditions.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma, Red X).
- Experience with 3D modeling software (CATIA, Solidworks, NX).
- Experience applying and interpreting standard and geometric dimensions and tolerances.
- Demonstrated background in optimization of manufacturing processes, such as machining, welding, assembly, and/or other advanced manufacturing methods.
- Strong computer skills in the Microsoft suite of programs.
- Experience with process sensing, monitoring equipment, and data collection.
- Industry 4.0 (IIOT).
- Experience/education with technical writing.
