MRB Engineer – Composite and Metallic Aerospace Structures
This position will evaluate nonconforming material for acceptability and reparability to ensure airworthiness of the components. The MRB Engineer will consider many aspects of the discrepant component such as functional interfaces, structural integrity, metallurgical and mechanical properties, aerodynamics, future operator and maintenance requirements, weight impact, cosmetic appearance, etc. The engineer will provide written disposition for the hardware and, if necessary, detailed rework or repair instructions with required inspection methods and acceptance criteria.
This position will work onsite in Foley, AL. Relocation assistance provided.

What You Will Do:- Obtain customer approval for Material Review Board authority through training and evidence of knowledge of relevant materials, structures, and requirements.
- Design repairs for damaged hardware using modeling tools such as Catia to restore the design intent of aerostructure components, both composite and metallic.
- Support existing product line design activities and/or operational process modifications to enhance products and processes and ensure current and future business needs are met.
- Interface with customers to communicate repairs and justify decisions.
- Support manufacturing to troubleshoot technical issues that arise on the floor.
- Work with Materials and Process engineers to interpret specifications and advise manufacturing on relevant issues.
- Support Quality in root‑cause corrective actions to eliminate repetitive issues and help standardize manufacturing processes.
- Interface with fellow MRB engineers, structures design engineers, engineering management, operations, shop floor personnel, and external vendors; assist senior technical staff in cross‑discipline initiatives involving design, quality, equipment, testing, and Materials & Process engineers.
- Participate in process improvement and continuous improvement activities; implement results of lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Participate in digital manufacturing solutions with support from digital subject matter experts.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts (stress, design, fire and safety, etc.) to obtain appropriate consent for necessary defects and damages.
- Provide technical leadership and train lower‑level staff to diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.
- Typically requires a degree in STEM and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
- Familiarity with PLM and ERP systems such as Teamcenter and SAP.
- Prior MRB experience.
- Aerospace experience.
- Experience working with manufacturing and assembly operations environments.
- Experience with composite and metallic materials.
- Stress/structural analysis experience.
