Senior Quality Engineer – Foley, AL
Location:
Foley, AL, United States. Onsite position with relocation assistance available. U.S. citizenship is required. Security clearance not required.
- Manage external and internal quality issues in a timely, professional manner.
- Resolve critical issues and situations ensuring correct handling within current policy and procedure guidelines.
- Lead or participate in 8D, DIVE, and preventative and corrective actions for quality issues related to internal non‑conformances, product returns, supplier issues, customer complaints, and corrective action requests, providing clear and concise reports to customers.
- Provide expertise and lead in process improvement tools and continuous improvement methods.
- Support the collection and analysis of program quality data on top issues including scrap, rework, and repair (SSR).
- Support/participate in program reviews of key metrics and strategic quality initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and audit inspection and test plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures/work instructions.
- Identify and manage risk in product development, engineering changes, and work transfers, primarily utilizing UPPAP core elements (e.g., PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans).
- Support the completion of First Article Reviews.
- Participate and prepare for customer, third‑party regulatory, and internal audits.
- Coordinate, prepare, and manage Notification of Escapes with suppliers, internal manufacturing, and the customer.
- Facilitate the investigation and elimination of causes of quality problems and follow‑up on corrective actions.
- Provide support in the development and evaluation of process capability, process control plans, analysis of out‑of‑control conditions, and process audits to improve performance and capability.
- Participate in and lead Manufacturing Process Reviews.
- Execute initiatives such as the Zero Defect Plan (ZDP).
- Travel up to 25% of the time.
- Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree and minimum 3 years of experience.
- Experience using AS9145, APQP/PPAP core elements (e.g., PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow Diagrams and Control Plans).
- Experience supporting Quality Management System requirements (e.g., Non‑Conformity Metrics Management, Risk Analysis, Audit support).
- Experience in Six Sigma, Process Certification, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Product Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Experience with 8D, quality tools, 5 Whys of Root Cause Analysis, and SPC analysis.
- Ability to lead a cross‑functional team and provide forecasting to reach established goals.
- Ability to assimilate, analyze, and present data to leaders, customers, and peers.
- Experience interfacing with internal and external customers at all levels of personnel.
- AS9100 preferred.
