The Metals Procurement Manager is responsible for the strategic sourcing, purchasing, inventory management, and supplier relationship activities related to metals and metal-based commodities. This position oversees procurement operations to ensure material availability, cost competitiveness, inventory accuracy, and alignment with production requirements. The Metals Procurement Manager leads a team of procurement and inventory professionals while collaborating closely with operations, finance, and supply chain leadership to support organizational goals.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for metals buying and related raw materials required for production of products.
- Monitor commodity markets, pricing trends, tariffs, and industry conditions to identify opportunities and mitigate supply risks.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and strategic partners.
- Lead inventory management initiatives to ensure material availability while optimizing inventory investment.
- Oversee cycle count programs and inventory audit processes to maintain inventory accuracy and compliance.
- Analyze inventory trends, usage patterns, and forecasting data to support production and business requirements.
- Collaborate with production, operations, planning, and finance teams to align procurement activities with organizational objectives.
- Develop and maintain procurement metrics, reporting, and key performance indicators.
- Evaluate supplier performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, purchasing procedures, and internal controls.
- Lead, coach, develop, and manage a team of procurement and inventory professionals.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices in procurement and inventory management.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities related to procurement and inventory.
