Company Description

Oscity Bio Sciences is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing cannabinoid-derived medications that harness the therapeutic potential of the human endocannabinoid system. Operating from an FDA-certified cGMP facility adjacent to the sandy beaches of Gulf Shores in the heart of Foley, Alabama, Oscity focuses on producing high-purity co-crystals through a proprietary patented extraction process. Oscity holds two enforceable U.S. patents (US 11,168,047 and US 11,993,563) that uniquely cover co-crystal solid forms of THC and extend across a broad range of cannabinoids, enabling superior stability, solubility, consistency, and bioavailability.

Built with advanced technology and equipment, Oscity is Alabama’s largest science and technology-based biopharmaceutical manufacturing company specializing in industrial hemp purification and cannabinoid drug development for a variety of therapeutic areas.

Role Description

The Chemist role at Oscity Bio Sciences is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Foley, AL. In this role, the Chemist will perform day‑to‑day laboratory activities including sample preparation, data collection and validation, characterization, and analysis of cannabinoid co‑crystals and related molecules. The Chemist will contribute to research and development projects, support process optimization, and assist in scaling up manufacturing methods within an FDA‑certified cGMP environment.

Responsibilities include executing and documenting experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, adhering to safety and quality standards, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams such as Quality Control and Manufacturing. The Chemist will also help interpret analytical data, troubleshoot experimental issues, and support continuous improvement of laboratory procedures and workflows for scalable solutions.

Qualifications
  • Required: Candidates should possess strong laboratory skills, including hands‑on experience with bench chemistry best practices, common instrumentation, and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemistry with a proclivity for physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, or instrumental analysis during undergraduate studies. Biochemistry, organic chemistry, computational chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, mathematics, and any related scientific discipline will be considered. A proven aptitude for flawlessly learning challenging but unrelated subjects in a timely manner can compensate given a willingness to rigorously cement lab safety and dedicate your mind to the subject matter involved.
  • Required: Candidates must command strong problem‑solving skills starting with the ability to clearly define the problem as a root cause rather than a symptom, as well as the ability to work collaboratively and communicate to the layman on‑site in a laboratory and industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Candidates should possess solid quality control and analytical skills, with the ability to perform accurate measurements, interpret data, and follow cGMP and FDA‑related guidelines.
  • Candidates ideally possess research and development (R&D) and research skills, including designing experiments, documenting results, and contributing to process and product innovation. This includes accurately identifying error during experimentation and troubleshooting for more robust outcomes.
  • Relevant skills such as familiarity with pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical environments, experience with crystallization or solid‑form characterization, and knowledge of hemp, cannabinoid chemistry, or botanical purification are beneficial.
  • Useful niches to be aware of are supramolecular chemistry, mechanochemistry, oleo chemistry, green chemistry, or ionic liquid chemistry.
  • Candidates should have an innate desire to learn and truly understand the why behind the what.
