Farm Mechanic

Overview

Description: Farm/Agricultural Mechanic — Woerner Agribusiness ("Woerner Turf"). We operate a large sod farm located in Baldwin County, Alabama. We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking individual to fulfill the role of Farm Mechanic.

• Perform diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on company equipment (tractors, forklifts, vehicles, etc.). This work may be performed in the field.
• Implement and adhere to a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment.
• Follow a pre-season inspection schedule and complete annual maintenance. Inspect equipment for mechanical, structural, and normal wear items.
• Fabricate repair parts/patches as needed.
• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
• Remove defective parts by dismantling devices.
• Ensure parts inventory is maintained and recorded.
• Maintain all necessary report logs required in conjunction with work assignments.
• Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.

• Experience with maintenance and repairs of farm equipment (including but not limited to: sod harvesters, forklifts, sprayers, planters, tractors, irrigation equipment, etc.).
• Diagnosing problems quickly and efficiently.
• Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
• Experience with welding and hydraulics is a plus.
• Efficient time management skills.

• Maintenance of agricultural equipment: 2 years
• Mechanic: 2 years
• Farm Operations: 2 years

• Trade school certification is preferred in mechanics.
• Some experience in farm operations.
• 2+ years’ experience with agricultural equipment, trucks and trailers is desired.
