Job Summary
This position is an entry level position responsible for clearing rights-of-way under the direction of the ROW/Urban Forestry Crew Leader. The primary responsibilities include trimming and maintaining all trees in the rights-of-way utilizing chainsaws, pole saws, hedgers, loaders, a limb truck, and dingo. Reports to the Street Dept ROW/Maintenance Supervisor.
Essential Functions- Operates a chainsaw, pole saw, hedger, loader, limb truck, and dingo to clear and maintain rights-of-way by trimming and maintaining all trees.
- Maintains all equipment and keeps it in ready condition.
- Places traffic cones and/or uses traffic signs and flags to perform traffic control in accordance with the MUTCD manual, wearing proper safety vest and PPE, as needed.
- Interacts and communicates with a wide variety of groups and individuals to include the general public, supervisors from all departments, co-workers, and office staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or its equivalent and no experience is required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special QualificationsMust obtain Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within one year of hire.
Successful applicants must have a valid driver’s license and pass a criminal background check (including driving record), drug screen, and pre-employment physical.
