This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance to be considered.
This position supports the Department of Energy (DOE) Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Sierra Nevada Region in Folsom, CA. The Accountant performs a variety of professional level accounting duties.
Compensation & BenefitsEstimated Starting Salary Range for Accountant
: $70,000 to $74,000.
Pay commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities- Perform professional level accounting duties, with special emphasis on debit and credit double entry bookkeeping and federal standard general ledger posting models.
- Process weekly invoices timely and accurately, including coordination with other staff to ensure invoices are received in Finance and payment is entered into financial system accounts payable module to meet weekly invoice due date.
- Prepare and analyze monthly transaction reports; identify trends; and recommend and prepare correcting entries.
- Record construction and asset entries in fixed asset module; research, verify, prepare and post completed construction projects.
- Other critical responsibilities include trust account monitoring; payment batch data entry; documenting processes and updating Standard Operating Procedures; accruals; reconciliations; and backup to Accounts Payable and Financial Analyst functions.
- Prepare presentations using the graphical tool sets in Microsoft Office as required.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a Degree in related field (i.e., Business Administration, Finance, or Public Administration) with 24-semester hours in Accounting.
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in accounting.
- Experience with Oracle - SAP preferred; strong organizational skills; effective communication skills; and detail oriented.
- Intermediate-Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word and Adobe.
