Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Manager of Operations Compliance, the Operations Compliance Specialist supports compliance with mandatory NERC Reliability Standards and ISO Tariff requirements. This role provides operational, administrative, and analytical support to ensure compliance activities are effectively coordinated, documented, monitored, and continuously improved.

This position combines administrative coordination, compliance support, and data analysis responsibilities, contributing to regulatory readiness and operational performance insights.

Key Responsibilities Compliance & Operational Support
  • Support the Operations Compliance team in maintaining adherence to NERC Reliability Standards and ISO Tariff obligations.
  • Assist with coordination and tracking of compliance activities, audits, evidence requests, and reporting deliverables.
  • Manage incoming compliance-related communications with internal stakeholders and external entities (e.g., RC West working group).
  • Maintain accurate and organized compliance documentation across multiple platforms, including SharePoint, Teams, and internal systems.
Project & Coordination Activities
  • Coordinate specialized projects as assigned by the Manager, including:
  • Defining objectives, timelines, and deliverables
  • Tracking milestones and dependencies
  • Identifying risks and escalating issues
  • Organize and schedule meetings, workshops, and events involving internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare agendas, presentations, and supporting materials.
  • Capture meeting minutes and monitor action items through completion.
  • Draft and distribute professional correspondence and reports.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Collect, organize, and analyze compliance and operational data from multiple sources, including Excel, databases, and internal systems.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and metrics to track compliance performance and operational readiness.
  • Perform trend analysis and data validation to identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support audit readiness by ensuring data accuracy, traceability, and completeness.
  • Generate recurring and ad hoc reports for leadership, including:
  • Compliance status reports
  • KPI tracking (evidence completion, audit findings, mitigation progress)
  • Process performance metrics
  • Assist in developing automated reporting solutions using Excel models, Power BI dashboards, or similar tools.
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate data insights into actionable recommendations.
Process Improvement & Documentation
  • Assist in maintaining and updating procedures, workflows, and compliance documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Support implementation of internal controls and best practices.
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • Associate degree in Business, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in:

  • Regulatory compliance
  • Operations or technical support
  • Data analysis or reporting
  • Project coordination
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with NERC compliance, ISO/RTO environments, or utility operations.
  • Background in data analysis, metrics development, or reporting automation.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional documentation.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office:
  • Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Experience with collaboration and document management tools such as SharePoint and Teams.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and tools.
