HDR is currently seeking to hire a Control Systems Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group in Folsom or Walnut Creek, CA. This individual’s primary function will be to serve on a team in a project leadership role in support of our national Control Systems practice which includes full-service capabilities. Our practice provides assessment, planning, design, automation programming/configuration, testing & commissioning, and maintenance for control systems in multiple industries.
The Control Systems Specialist / Engineer will work under the direction of a Senior Control Systems Specialist / Engineer as part of a team responsible for designing complex industrial and building control and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. This position requires coordination with multidiscipline design teams, and participation in the development of control system construction documents for projects in multiple market sectors including oil & gas;
food & beverage; logistics; manufacturing; mining; general industrial, transportation, technology, media & telecom, healthcare, research, life sciences; and water/wastewater.
This individual should be self-motivated with attention to detail and an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound control system designs.
In the role of Control Systems Engineer, we'll count on you to:
- Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Coordinate workload through design development and construction document phases to complete documents on schedule
- Conduct systems integration of the SCADA systems, including programming of PLCs/PCs and HMI customizing for various control software programs
- Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
- Write and edit instrumentation and controls systems specifications, and select equipment and monitoring/control devices
- Develop biddable and technically accurate SCADA / I&C construction documents including P&IDs, network architecture diagrams, control panel layouts and wiring diagrams, installation details, loop drawings, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
