Overview
HDR is looking for an Electrical Engineering Leader to join the Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group in Folsom or Walnut Creek, CA. The role requires providing electrical engineering expertise, supervising staff, and leading design and delivery for a variety of markets including Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Federal, Resources, Transportation, Health Care, Technology, and Commercial.
Responsibilities- Take responsibility for area coordination, monitoring and improvement of technical competencies of business class staff and products to meet client needs and market drivers.
- Participate in delivery of project services to meet client expectations.
- Collaborate on business class efforts with area operations, marketing and project management.
- Participate in business class practice and professional discipline groups, project teams and activities to continually improve standards and best practices, and implement effective quality assurance and quality control reviews.
- Participate in business class strategic planning, budgeting and plan implementation.
- Work cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts.
- Assist in the responsibility for operations of production section including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support.
- May function as an Assistant Project Manager and assist in responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities.
- Assist with administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections.
- Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews.
- Be directly involved with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production and related issues.
- Assist in ensuring that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management systems.
- Implement, monitor and support company policy.
- Assist in the selection, training, development and management of technical personnel.
- Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering or closely related field
- 10 years of experience
- committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
- maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience
- experienced in development and management of diverse teams
- works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
- an attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
- actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand
- master's degree in electrical engineering
- previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
- electrical PE licensure in California
- strong communication and listening skills
- ability to handle multiple assignments
- good leadership and organizational skills
- proficiency in Microsoft Office
- proficiency with SKM electrical system modeling software
- proficiency with lighting modeling software such as Visual
