Position Overview
The Southwest Regional Business Class (BC) Lead for Stormwater is responsible for the direction, coordination and quality of work for stormwater projects in the Southwest operating region of HDR.
ResponsibilitiesThe duties of the position are to coordinate, facilitate and provide leadership for multi‑discipline and multi‑benefit stormwater projects with varying degrees of technical complexity. The position will build and maintain client and area business class relationships and participate in project development and contract document preparation. The person will mentor mid‑ and junior‑level staff across a variety of disciplines to facilitate growth and quality project delivery in the region.
The position will participate in and provide oversight to a variety of project types, including planning, design, bid phase services and construction related services of urban stormwater and interior drainage projects; integrated water management (coastal, riverine and pluvial); green stormwater infrastructure; and general site civil of water management infrastructure.
The SW Regional BC Lead will coordinate, on a regional basis, projects with inter‑related disciplines such as hydrology, hydraulics, structural, geotechnical, civil, right of way/utilities, CADD and GIS. The position will also require coordination with HDR’s other regional and corporate business class technical leads and advisors and will be expected to reinforce the Quality Management Program (QMP) and participate in staff training, as needed.
Work assignments may include technical and quality reviews of projects throughout the geographic region. HDR utilizes a robust workshare program and expects work to be shared across the HDR network between operational areas, with coordination with different area or regional operations management and corporate business class leadership. The position may also be required to work with HDR legal, project managers, business group managers and area managers in reviewing go/no go decisions, SOWs, contracts, and project pricing.
Preferred Qualifications- Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand
- MS in civil, environmental or water resources engineering is preferred
- Fifteen (15) years related experience
- Experience as a task lead and/or project manager in a consulting business is preferred
- Applicants must be self‑starters that are highly motivated and team oriented
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills and the ability to assimilate data and put into a big picture context are essential
- Applicants must have extensive experience designing and directing large complex multi‑discipline projects
- Experience with engineering during construction or construction administration experience for dam and levee projects
- Strong technical writing abilities, solid engineering background, and effective presentation skills are necessary for this position
- Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
- 10 years experience in related field
- Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience
- Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
- Works cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
