We're seeking a Senior Surveyor to join our Land Development team in Folsom. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced survey professional to work closely with our Principal Surveyor and play a key role in leading and mentoring our talented field and office staff.
Position Overview
The Senior Surveyor will oversee surveying operations that support our growing team. This position involves managing complex projects, providing technical guidance, and ensuring high-quality deliverables for residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects.
As a leader within the Survey Department, this individual will assist the Principal Surveyor with technical oversight, staff development, and client coordination - helping drive operational excellence and long-term team growth.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Project Leadership
- Lead land development survey projects including boundary resolution, topographic mapping, and construction calculations.
- Review and approve survey deliverables including plats, legal descriptions, and records of survey.
- Ensure all survey work meets R.E.Y. standards, client expectations, and applicable state regulations.
- Oversee QA/QC on survey computations, mapping, and data integration with Civil 3D and Micro Station.
- Mentor survey technicians, surveyors-in-training, and field crews.
- Support staff training, performance development, and workflow improvement.
- Collaborate with the Principal Surveyor to create a cohesive, growth-oriented team culture.
- Manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules for multiple concurrent assignments.
- Coordinate with engineering and design teams to support integrated project delivery.
- Communicate directly with clients, subconsultants, and local agencies.
- California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.
- 10+ years of professional experience in land development or infrastructure surveying.
- Expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, and Trimble Business Center.
- Strong understanding of subdivision mapping, boundary law, and construction staking.
- Proven ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Partner with our Principal Surveyor to shape the future of our Land Development Survey team.

- Competitive salary range: $128,000 - $180,000
