As a Substation Engineering Manager (EM) in an established Power Delivery practice, you will lead the technical execution of high‑voltage substation projects and partner closely with the Project Manager (PM) to deliver successful outcomes.
Responsibilities- Develop a partnership with the PM and lead the technical team to deliver project deliverables.
- Develop and implement a project execution plan for the technical aspects of projects.
- Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to team members.
- Support technical scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management.
- Mentor, train, and direct one or more Project Engineers, EITs, or CADD/Designers.
- Coordinate and perform quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables per HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements.
- Lead multiple concurrent projects and coordinate cross‑location teams.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and technical leaders to develop specific technical expertise and attend training and seminars.
- Assist in developing technical papers and/or presentations for industry conferences or events.
- Work with the Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Master’s degree in Engineering.
- CA Professional Engineer or ability to gain reciprocity upon hire.
- Willingness to maintain a strong in‑office presence 4‑5 days a week.
- Interest in engaging in technical and industry groups (IEEE, NAPE, EPRI, etc.).
- Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm.
- US Citizenship required due to client contract requirements.
- Takes initiative and adapts flexibly to change.
- Thrives in a team environment and demonstrates strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience.
- Professional Engineering license recognized by the licensing board of the location (PE or P.Eng).
- Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Auto Pipe, Revit).
