RoleElectrical Engineering Leader will join the Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group in Folsom or Walnut Creek, CA. Engineering Leaders influence culture, morale, recruiting, and provide technical leadership for pursuing and delivering work. They combine deep discipline expertise with an understanding of cross-discipline teams, and lead with a collaborative mindset to support HDR’s BES business goals.
Responsibilities- Provide electrical engineering expertise, supervision, and mentoring; produce electrical systems design for markets including Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Federal, Resources, Transportation, Health Care, Technology, and Commercial.
- Oversee the operation of the Northern California BES electrical team, including staff development, workflow and forecasting, proposals and level of effort, scheduling, profitability, morale, and quality control; act as technical lead on projects and manage staff.
- Select, train, develop, and manage technical personnel; identify and recruit talent to grow the electrical section to meet BES design needs.
- Coordinate services with other disciplines; work with clients on project production and related issues; implement, monitor, and support company policy.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams throughout planning, development of construction documents, and construction administration; develop construction drawings, specifications, and supporting calculations; review shop drawings in construction.
- Demonstrate self-motivation, collaboration, and strong leadership with initiative to deliver high-quality, technically sound electrical designs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand
- Master's degree in electrical engineering
- Electrical PE licensure in California
- Strong communication and listening skills; ability to handle multiple assignments
- Leadership and organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency with SKM electrical system modeling software
- Proficiency with lighting modeling software such as Visual
- Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or related field
- 10 years of experience
- Commitment to quality, HDR values; maintains professional engineering registration
- Experience in development and management of diverse teams; ability to collaborate with area leaders and marketing staff
- Active participant in HDR’s employee-owned culture
