Essential Duties & Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and conduct environmental and geological field investigations. Lead soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil gas, and vapor sampling activities in accordance with approved work plans and standard operating procedures. Oversee and conduct drilling operations, monitoring well installation, geotechnical investigations, construction observation, soil vapor extraction system operation and maintenance, and remediation system implementation. Provide field oversight of remediation, construction, excavation, and site restoration activities.
Document field activities through detailed field notes, logs, photographs, and daily reports. Direct field teams, subcontractors, drilling contractors, and support personnel during project execution. Coordinate with laboratories, construction contractors, and project team members. Evaluate geological, hydrogeological, and environmental data to support site characterization and remedial decision-making. Develop and refine Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) based on site conditions and investigation findings.
Prepare and review technical reports, work plans, sampling and analysis plans, remedial investigation reports, feasibility studies, and closure documentation. Prepare figures, maps, cross-sections, boring logs, and data visualizations. Perform data quality reviews and ensure compliance with project QA/QC requirements. Support development of project scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and technical approaches. Coordinate with clients, regulators, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior geologists, engineers, and field staff. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Plans (HASPs), federal regulations, and company safety procedures. Support project managers with project execution, resource planning, and client communications. Travel to project sites and perform field work that may require overnight travel and extended outdoor work. Perform other duties as assigned. Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Geology, Geological Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Level of Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, site characterization, remediation, hydrogeologic investigations, or related technical services. Professional Geologist (PG) license or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) progressing toward licensure. Experience leading field investigations and environmental sampling programs. Demonstrated experience preparing technical reports and regulatory deliverables. Strong understanding of environmental investigation and remediation practices. Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities while maintaining quality standards.
Willingness to travel, with up to a 60/40 field-to-office ratio, to support multiple projects Ability to work safely in field environments, including construction sites, industrial facilities, and remote locations. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and traverse uneven terrain. Valid driver’s license and good driving record Ability to obtain and maintain access to federal facilities and project sites. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics Advanced understanding of geology, stratigraphy, hydrogeology, and contaminant fate and transport.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams. Strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy, and strong attention to detail. Preferred OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER…
