Job Title: Project Land Surveyor
Location: Folsom, CA
Compensation: $100K-150K
Seeking an experienced Project Land Surveyor to lead and manage survey projects from start to finish. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy, overseeing project delivery, financial performance, and client relationships. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multiple projects, leading teams, and serving as a technical resource within the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all phases of survey projects, including scope, schedule, and budget
- Maintain full accountability for project profitability and financial performance
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, including participation in meetings (as needed, day or evening)
- Prepare and oversee survey agreements, proposals, and work authorizations
- Monitor workload and forecast staffing needs for assigned team members
- Ensure quality control of work products, including legal descriptions, maps, and survey deliverables
- Oversee project schedules and ensure timely completion of deliverables
- Manage work-in-process, client invoicing, accounts receivable, and collection efforts
- Provide direction and oversight to drafters, technicians, and field staff
- Utilize survey software and equipment to support boundary, topographic, construction, control, and design surveys
- Support planning, design coordination, and contract administration efforts
- Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 6+ years of progressive experience in land surveying
- Strong background in topographic and boundary surveys, subdivision mapping, and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
- Proven experience managing projects, budgets, and client relationships
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while leading technical teams
- Advanced knowledge of survey principles, practices, and software tools
Required: California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License (active and in good standing) OR LSIT License with ability to obtain PLS in the next couple of years
Technical & Analytical Skills- Strong mathematical aptitude, including proficiency in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and financial calculations
- Ability to apply ratios, percentages, and practical problem-solving in real-world survey scenarios
